Whilst we are unable to meet in church, here is the prepared service video for this week; other items of the usual online service are below it.

Blessed are you, Sovereign God of all,
to you be praise and glory for ever.
In your tender compassion
the dawn from on high is breaking upon us
to dispel the lingering shadows of night.
As we look for your coming among us this day,
open our eyes to behold your presence
and strengthen our hands to do your will,
that the world may rejoice and give you praise.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God forever!

PSALM IN THIS SLOT

Our time of Confession:

Almighty God,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
maker of all things, judge of all people,
we acknowledge and confess
the grievous sins and wickedness
which we have so often committed
by thought, word and deed
against your divine majesty,
provoking most justly your anger
and indignation against us.
We earnestly repent,
and are deeply sorry for these our wrongdoings;
the memory of them weighs us down,
the burden of them is too great for us to bear.
Have mercy upon us,
have mercy upon us, most merciful Father,
for your Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake,
forgive us all that is past;
and grant that from this time onwards
we may always serve and please you
in newness of life,
to the honour and glory of your name,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

May the Father of all mercies
cleanse us from our sins,
and restore us in his image
to the praise and glory of his name,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

EXTRA SONG IN THIS SLOT

Prayers

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory
are yours now
and for ever.
Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ,
In these dark and difficult days we turn our hearts to you.
In ages past you have delivered our nation from disaster.
Do it again we pray.

Give Wisdom beyond human wisdom to our leaders.
Give strength beyond human strength to the NHS and all our frontline workers.
Give comfort beyond human comfort to children and the elderly and all who grieve.

Lord, Jesus Christ.
In these dark and difficult days,
turn your face towards us,
have mercy upon us,
and heal our land we pray.
Amen

Loving God,
your Son Jesus Christ came that we might have life and have it abundantly;
pour out your blessing upon our nation;
where there is illness,
bring your healing touch;
where there is fear, strengthen us with the knowledge of your presence;
where there is uncertainty, build us up in faith;
where there is dishonesty, lead us into truth;
where there is discord, may we know the harmony of your love;
this we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Amen

Collect Prayer for Advent Sunday

Almighty God,
as your kingdom dawns,
turn us from the darkness of sin to the
light of holiness,
that we may be ready to meet you
in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Amen

Activity

Think about what things you and your family do in the run up to Christmas to get ready. Maybe think of some new traditions you can do together or ways to decorate your home.

Craft
Make a scroll by making some paper look old, by rubbing a used tea bag over it until it changes colour. Let it dry then draw a picture of baby Jesus or write the verse from Isaiah 7:14. You could roll it up with some ribbon and make it part of your Christmas decorations

That is the end of the Kids' Church section

Things you may have missed this week:

1/ During the Lockdowns we have been watching videos together on Saturday mornings. If you missed them, or want to see one again, you will find them here.

2/ Have your say on how the Government engages with faith communities. “I would urge as many people as possible to get involved by responding to the consultation, ensuring that the voices of our faith communities are heard.”
